Tryout FAQs

Q: Do I need to register for pre-tryouts and/or tryouts if I already play for OPSC?

A: Yes, all players, both OPSC and non-OPSC players need to register.

Q: Why are pre-tryouts only one day?

A: We don’t want costs to be a factor in if you should come or not, plus the time commitment from parents.

Q: What should my player bring to tryouts?

A: Players should come ready to play for one hour with soccer cleats, shin guards and long socks. Please bring plenty of water, as it can get hot on turf. No soccer ball is needed, soccer balls will be provided by the club.

Q: Where are tryouts?

A: Friday June 9, 2017 tryouts for U8-U10 (birth year 2010-2008) will be is at Indian Hills Middle School (6400 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208).

Saturday and Sunday June 10 & 11, 2017 will be at Shawnee Mission East High School (7500 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208).

Q: What happens if there is bad weather?

A: We will notify anyone registered for tryouts by email. We will also post updates on our Facebook page- OverlandParkSoccerClub. If tryouts are delayed or need to be rescheduled, we will send out an email and post on Facebook.

Q: When will I find out if my son/daughter has made a team?

A: Coaches will begin to offer positions on their team starting immediately after the first day of tryouts. The top ranked team will offer positions first and so forth. With a lot of teams within an age group can take a while as teams get formed. For some teams this might happen until the last day of tryouts. OPSC will make every effort that your son/daughter gets placed on a team. There can be times when there are not enough players to form a team. Players selected by a coach will receive details from the coach or team manager on how to register.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions?

A: Please email or text/call 913.280.5645.
